had to be quiet. The oldest girls
at the school were are in the schoolhouse,
but until 6 p.m. they are not allowed
to say anything. Therefore, it must not
be particularly pleasant at all.
All the others are now in the house
of the senior girls, because St. Christepher
is much too small, of course, and also
has no schoolrooms. Only the girls
from the third form are in our
house because they are small enough
and don’t have to study so much.
Yesterday, poor little
Lucy was at the dentist’s. She had 4 teeth
pulled. That’s quite something
for suuuuch a small, thin,
scrawny froglet that never before

had a tooth pulled.
She wanted to cry
but choked it back because the
dentist is a stranger. It was
yesterday (evening) [parentheses indicate strikethrough here] afternoon and
neither she nor I knew
that she would be going.
She was not told until already on the way.
She went of her own free will.
Afterwards she was
in the infirmary all night
because she had to have a very different
sort of meal.
Tonight she is already
back in her bed next to me.
I’m very glad, whether Lucy
is glad, I don’t know. I
