moths. After [strikethrough] my usual work [/strikethrough] office hours I went to see Lacy.
Both she and her brother are very depressed. Their
younger brother was called up for labour service.
Later in the afternoon I made some [strikethrough] cracker, backed [/strikethrough] cookies baked
in the kitchen of the Horchlers. then had to hurry
home as Iván was due again for a lesson. We

B.B.C. announces at 9:30 a.m. that allied invasion
has begun on the Normandy peninsula, between
Cherbourg and Le Havre. I almost gave up hope

The afternoon. Very few G. soldiers can be seen
on the streets, they are shut up in their quarters,

the noon papers brought the news, without
any trace of G. measures taken against the invasion.
