Nov. 11.

Yesterday we have heard a considerable amount of gun fire, this morning nothing, which does not mean, there is no bombardment, only not in our acoustic-direction...

The same story told by refugees from everywhere, the last that was told at the next grocery (full with shopping people) from Pestszenterzsébet, at the outskirts of Bpest. A woman retailed they were given fifteen minutes by the G.s, to evacuate, she could hardly take her bedclothes and some underwear, but the same time the G. soldiers began to plunder their homes and put their furniture on lorries. They had to witness all, without word.

Klári Bálint has seen before last night, the Lajtai family leave the house with much luggage on a [strikethrough] luxurious [/strikethrough] luxury car. The Lajtais were the chief nyilas in our house, they reported those three people, who were arrested. He became secretary of one of the cabinet ministers and went after him, very probably to Sopron or Vienna. These are splendid news for us, we only hope, the other nyilas will follow them.

Same night. Last night I had a telephon call from Emil’s [strikethrough] lawyer solicitor [/strikethrough] attorney and I had to meet him this morning. Street communication is undescribable, so it lasted a considerable time until I got to Apponyi tér We recognized each other, though never met before. He had a card from Emil for me, second which I had to consult Mrs Grónay. She was not in her shop, so after my Oti hours (had there quartz and Sollent irradiations myself as help against bitter cold in the rooms) I went to her flat and accomplished my task. I have to pay the [strikethrough] solicitor [/strikethrough] attorney for Emil, he has freed or going to free Emil’s brother, as Swiss citizen from labour service, Pünkösdfürdő.
