To His Excellency The Governor of Utah. Salt Lake City My Dear+Hon. Sir, I enclose a clipping from the Appeal to Reason stating that a man—Joe Hill by name—is to be executed the 1st day of Ocbr. next (But before I proceed farther permit to say that I am 82 yrs old past & never struck a man in anger nor ever had one to strike me)- Pleas read the clipping + thoroughly investigate this matter before letting this man's life be taken. You nor I can't bring or give back to this man what God gave him. Two wrongs can't make a wright. To kill this man is no punishment. It is in your purview to save his life: Will you do so + gain God's will by doing it? I will now close, claiming?the
