Govenor Wm.Spry,

City,

Dear Sir:-

Accept my heartiest congratulations on the consistent and praiseworthy stand taken by you in the Hillstrom case.

In my judgement any other course than that now taken by you would be inconsistent and destructive to the safety of the citizens generally. Very truly yours,

Scott W. Anderson

Mr. Scott W. Anderson, 35 Richards St., Salt Lake CIty, Utah. My dear Mr. Anderson:- I trust you will accept this hardy word of appreciation of your letter of November 18th, expressing your approval of my action in the Hillstrom case. I have been so busily occupied during the past six weeks that it has been impossible to take care of the accumulation of mail before now. I believe that the vigorous utterances of men like yourself who are law-abiding were potent in arousing a popular sentiment against the lawless element which had gathered here to threaten and intimidate individuals.

I have taken the liberty of showing your letter to the members of the State Board of Pardons and they join me in this expression of appreciation. Cordially yours,

Governor.

Hon. William Spry, Gov. State of Utah, Salt Lake City Utah,

Your excellency:- Just a few lines to thank you and express my appreciation of your noble act towards Americans by your fitting and true American spirit in answering Pres. Wilson as you did recently.

I know nothing of the Hillstrom case but Pres. Wilson has injured and jeopardized the lives and interests of Americans ever since he was in the White House + a halt must be called. His "interference" at all times for benefit of foreigners against True Born Americans has been criminal + I trust his interference in the State of Utah will not injure you personally. Here on the border we have seen his unamerican actions and while he has temporarily helped the Mexicans in the end it will be found that he has been their enemy. I pray to

God that the time is not distant when he will see the error of his ways or when the American People will force him to it. When we Americans in Mexico saw and felt the effects of his blunders we cried silently but after being driven from Mexico we saw our soldiers + fellow citizens driven off American soil + even killed on American soil + then did we ask ourselvew why and wherefore.

I pray that God protect you + give you strength to act as an American always and I again thank you. Believe me

Respectfully yours

Dec. 16, 1915.

Mr. Charles I. Aner 7 DeWitt Apartments, 217 Wyoming Street, El Paso, Texas.

Dear Sir:

This letter is an expression of appreciation of your communication of Nov. 19th, conveying your feelings toward the officials of this state in the handling of the notorious Hillstrom case. While I have been subjected to a bombardment of threatening letters, many of which are obscene and vicious in character, and while the President of the United States saw fit to interfere in the matter, without grounds, I am learning that the decent, self-respecting element of our population, and thank God, that is still a great portion of our population, is behind us in our efforts to enforce law.

Again thanking you, I beg to remain Cordially yours,

Governor.
