PETITION FOR CLEMENCY FOR JOSEPH HILLSTROM

To the Board of Pardons
of the State of Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah
Having heard the facts in the case of Joseph Hill-strom, who is condemned to die October 1, 1915, for the alleged killing of J. B. Morrison,
And believing that he has not been proven to be guilty, and
Believing further that if he is shot it will not be because of his guilt as a murderer, but because of his activity in the cause of labor, and
Believing further that the peace and wellbeing of the State of Utah is threatened by the purposed shooting of Joseph Hillstrom, as the peace and wellbeing of these United States is threatened by the conditions of labor, the suppression of its efforts at bettering those conditions, and the persecution of its leaders,-
I therefore petition His Honor, Governor William Spry, and the Board of Pardons of the State of Utah to grant clemency to Joseph Hillstrom and to commute his sentence.
