Tonopah, Nev. July 25th 1914.

To His Exvellency,
The Governor of UTAH
Executive Mansion
Salt Lake City. Utah.

Honorable Sir;
We the undersigned citizens of Tonopah, do hereby
duly petition your Excellency to excercise clemency in the case of
Joseph Hillstom awaiting sentence of death at Salt Lake city Utah on
charge of murder. As American citizens we ask you in the name of Justice
and humanity to give the said Joseph Hillstram a chance for his life.
The evidence that tended to convict him was purely circumstantial, and
fully realizing the prejudice that existed against the prisoner owing to
his radical views; we protest against a legal murder that would cast a blot
on the fair escutcheon of the State of Utah, Were we sure in our minds
that the conviction was without malice; we would let the law take its course
but as we have proof to the contrary, we are opposed to capital punishment
trusting that our prayer will receive consideration we remain,

Your Humble servants.
