Wednesday, August 14, 1878
The newly elected council of Spring City for the
fifth term assembled at the meeting house.
Called to order by the Mayor, James A. Allred.
Prayer by the Mayor. The Mayor stated briefly
a few rules which he thought would be advantageous
for the council.

An ordinance was passed in relation to assessing
and collecting.

The subject of taxation was considered by
the council, and in view of the small tax and
the increase of expenditure it was moved by
Orson Hyde seconded by John Schofield; that
the rate of taxation for taxable property be
1/2 of 1 per cent which was agreed to by the
Council. Council dismissed by prayer by Orson
Hyde.

Thursday, September 5, 1878
Council met in the Meeting House. Called to
order by the Mayor. Opened by prayer by Orson Hyde
Remarks were made concerning the streets and
the street supervisor. Removing of the grain
from the late treasurers grainary to the present
ones was next considered.

It was moved, seconded and carried that Br.
Downard be instructed to haul the grain
from Lauritz Larson's place to his own.
