Local Union No. 1187
United Mine Workers of America
Rosedale, Ind. Sept. 15. 1915
To the Governor of Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah
Dear Sir; We are instructed by unanimous vote
of Local #1187. U.M.W.of A. representing 409. members to write you protesting
against the execution of Joe Hill on October the first 1915.
That if he is executed we will call it legal murder, a blow at liberty, and
the right of the laboring class to strike against outrageous conditions under
which they labor. That we must remember and not forget who the friends of lab
labor are that we will hold torches high, and keep the fires burning in
the hearts of our class so that they can not forget, and urge you to use
your high office in behalf of Joe Hill, and justice.
We beg to subscribe ourselves repectfully yours
