Pte. E A Richardson, ^ #126141 A. Co. 71st Batln. Bramshott Camp. England.

My dear Fan. Here I have been here a week and I have not written any of you yet (except poscards). It is a very [awkward - crossed out] rotten place to write from because you have to go to the Y. M.C.A. or some place to write from and then generally have to wait[e - crossed out] for an hour or so! I like this country in one way so far only and that is the country around the camp and the scenery. The country is certainly grand.

You can get me a flask if you like and send it over because I might be able to sleep at night if I had something to warm me up before going to bed[d- crossed out]. because it is very cold and damp over here. Well [Fan?] old girl you and Frank look after yourselves and write me and tell everybody else to and I will write you again soon as I am getting a little more settled. Best love your big brother Send me Aunt [Liza's?] address and [Sus. Anderson's?] Ted

There are about fifteen thousand soldiers in this camp and it is some place. All huts which are very comfortable, but Fan dont ever encourage any young fellow to enlist because he would certainly like to do something to you if he ever comes over here, because this is certainly a rotten place. They soak you like I dont know what and also starve you. and it rains all the time. Never mind I am going to stick to it and get through with it. I have been feeling fine and boils over here do not seem to have any guts. They don't hurt at all.

I didn't tell you about my trip over here but you will most likely have heard by the time you get this letter. I enjoyed it very much and although a little sick on the boat is certainly
