London. 1915. June 28th - July 4th.

Mon. 28th. Office. Wrote in the eve. Miss Tarnoski is back.

Tues. 29th. Office. Wrote Florence. Miss Haddock came up & practised bandaging on me in the eve for her first-aid course. Went to the High Commissioner's & read the papers after lunch at the "Shield".

Wed. 30th. Office. Lunch at the Shield & then went back to the office & wrote Auntie. Went to the Library in Buckingham Palace road before dinner & read about the Order of St. Michael & St. George. Went to an Intercessional Service after dinner but was late. Wrote Jack Annesley & a card to Dorothy. Letters from D. & Bertie & a note from [Scudi?]'s sister saying he had received my p.c. & one book & would like me to write. Bertie may get home on leave for a few days - I do hope so! He has been in the trenches & firing line for months steadily now.

July.

Thurs. 1st. Dominion Day. Office. Gaving Davis & [unclear] Howard Coulthard came in. Lunched in Victoria St. & went into the stores after. Miss Haddock & Miss Tarnoski came up in the eve. to my room & we had the puppy too?

Frid. 2nd. Office. Lunched at the Shield & went to the stores after & bought some gloves. A pair for Rose, a pair for Auntie's Jean & a pair for myself. Went over to see Miss Doré in her new room in Cornwall St. in the eve. Keep waking up very early now which makes me sleepy in the eve.

Sat. 3rd. Office. Very hot day. Felt tired. We are to have every Sat. aft. off now (except for [unclear] to stay) I volunteered to be [on or one?] of the [unclear] this time. Went in the Tate Gallery on my way home. Miss Tarnoski, Miss Haddock, & I went in the gardens in the eve.

Sun. 4th. Another very hot day. Miss Haddock & I went to Taplow by the 10.50 train. It was lovely to be in the country! We had a walk by the river before lunch which we had at the Dumb Bell Inn. Then we walked up to Cliveden & Major Bowie (Dr Bowie of Brockville) showed us all about. It is a beautiful place. Mr John Astor gave his in door tennis court to be fitted up for a Can. Red Cross Hospital & now several new buildings - perfectly equipped have been put up. They had not [unclear] a case as [fit?] Major Bowie said. A lot of the men had their bed out of door on a platform
