July 11th - 17th.
Sun. 11th. Bertie & Capt. Parks called for Dorothy & myself in the A.M. & we taxied to Kensington Gardens where we had a very pleasant walk & then sat & watched the ducks & swans & children at the round pond. Afterwards B. & D. & I went to Rowland Gardens where B. got a sword from Major Godson & then went went [sic] to the Criterion for lunch & then to the Orchards' for tea; we went to the Pavilion to see the Animated Map "of Ypres" on our way home but were too late just then so D. & I came home for supper & went back there later on but Bertie was too late again so the manager gave us a private view in a little room upstairs. It was very interesting.
Mon. 12th. Office in the aft. Bertie took Dorothy & myself to see "Betty" in the eve. D & I went to Buckingham Palace Gate & watched Bertie go in with the others to be decorated in the A.M.
Tues. 13th. Office. D. & I lunched with Bertie & then I saw her off from King's Cross.
Wed. 14th. Office.
Thurs. 15th. Office. Lunched with Bertie [hurridly?] at the stores. We moved over into a rotten old house in Smith Square. Not nearly so nice. Felt very cross. Went to church in the eve.
Frid. 16th. Office. 'Phoned Bertie. Decided to go down to the Review at Shorncliffe the next day. Trimmed a hat in the eve.
Sat. 17th. Left by the 9.5 train from Charing Cross for Hythe where I was due at 11.27 - Drove up to Rolly's cottage where she has rooms. She said the Review had taken place early but she & I & Miss Hilaire who is staying with her drove over to the place where it was held. We met some of the troops coming away but it was all over - however it was a nice drive. The country is beautiful. The 29th & 31st both marched past the gate later on, but did not recognize anyone I knew except Capt. Rolston who stopped & came in. After tea Rolly & Miss H. drove me down to the station & I got home about 8.30. Found a card from Scudi who is feeling pretty depressed with life as a prisoner so wrote him a letter. Weather uncertain.
