Gentlemen:

We the undersigned members of the Police force of the Cith of Charlottesville
hereby petition honorable body for an increase in salary.

As you gentlement are aware the cost of liviing is high and still
advanciing.

With every economy our present salaries will not keeep us even, and
some of us with large familes cannot keep out of debt.

Our rate of pay here is lower than most citites od our size and we
earnestly trust that you gentlemen can see your way clear to grant us such an
increase. We are not asking this to secure luxeries but merely a living wages.

The Action of the City Manager is appointing Mr. J. E. McGreger,
Superintendent of the Water Department to succeed the late C. D. Carter,
Mr. Tyler Young Assistant Superintendent to fill the position made vacant by
Mr. J. E. McGregor's promotion was approved.

The folllowing amounts were appropriated for the purpose stated below
Sewer Extension between Jefferson & Market Street $900.00
Storm sewer on Main Street 600.00
Back charges of $7.50 against Cemetery Section beloning to
Nettie C. Jones and Minne Flynn was orderee cancelled upon owners paying $30.00 for
perpetual csrs of same.

Gentlemen:

Last fall, I wrote you requesting that you make some increase in the
salary of Communwealth's Attorney, Commensuarte with the increases in business and
population of the City and was advised at that time that the budget has been made
up for the year, so I take the occassion to again call this matter to your attention
in the hope that you will be able to make a more satisfactory arrangement in the
budget for the coming year.

Whereas the conditon of Rose Hill Street is such as to make it almost impassable
during the Spring and Winter Months, and whereas the Water from Booker Street
and the surrounding territory comes down and settles on that portion of Tose Hill
