Dear Sir,

I have your letter of
3rd instant & with reference
thereto beg to say that on
seeing the lamentable death
of General Bray in the
papers I tried to see my
way to send you something
on a/c. Since I saw you
last I have earned £8
writing in the papers. &
my wife has now had
seven weeks severe illness.
When I tell you that we
are living in two rooms
at 17 Carlingford Road
Hampstead & have no
servant. I think you will
see that it is not want
of will that prevents my
complying with the desire
you so naturally express
so far as the present moment
is concerned.

With regard to
the next few months I can
only say that I am giving
determined efforts to the
Insulite Co. but the state
of trade all over England
for Electrical goods is simply
stagnant. There is some
sign of a revival now that
autumn has arrived &
