Sir,

At our last session of assembly an Act passed to settle the estate that my father had defigned for my brother Robert in case he had survived him. In my brother Charles & my self as trustees to raise five & twenty hundred pounds for Mrs. Carter, now Mrs. Lewis, and afterwards to raise a portion for her daughter, & tho' nothing of it was mentioned in the Act, my brother Chs. [Charles] & I did than agree to pay my brother Roberts own proper debts out of my fathers estate, but to charge to my nephew & to give him time for the repayment till the other sums should be raised & paid of so y. the intire profits of my nephews estate are to apply'd to satisfy those sums before mentioned. also anyone know what they mean by "y." seen this plenty of times and no idea. "your" maybe?
see fourth line from bottom: "& paid of so y."

I am working on the latter part of the book, and I believe the name is Edward Athawes.

I am working in the sort of middle and had trouble with this name for a while. Recently I had a letter with particularly clear writing--the name is Edward Athawes (I also was able to "google" him)
