To Mr. Edwd. Athawes
Corotomon Sep [ ] 1738

Sir,
Inclosed you have an invoice of
some goods for the use of Mr. Robert and Miss
Betty Carter, and Some blanketing for the Nomony
estates Negroes, the former you are to send to
Col. John Lewis's in Mabjack Bay, but the
Blanketing must be sent to Rappahanock
along with the estates other goods, the Man
of War is not arriv'd but is expected daily as
by her I expect to receive your acct. of sales
of this estates Tobo [tobacco] in your hands and an
Acct. [account] currt [current] and as the crops last sent you
was pretty large, I am in hopes [yr] [your?] account
will turn out so as to afford some prospect
of clearing off by degrees the trust charged on
the estate. as to the crop now gone home to
you which is 32 [hhds] in your ship Charles
and 20 [hhds] in the [Micaj?] and Phillip. Captn
Waff I must desire you to dispose of it as
soon as you can with advantage, that I may
have the accts. [accounts] of sales and and an acct [account] current
With waiting too long, it is always best to have
annual accots [accounts] but the circumstances of this
estate require it for many reasons, one is, that
I may know from time to time how to take my
measures with Col. Lewis with some certainty
I am not at all inclinable to draw on you before
you are in cash, I am sorry when I am oblig'd to
do it, but Col. Lewis is now very pressing for
some money, I have put him off but I don't know
whether I shall be able to avoid drawing on you
