At a meeting of Phillips Church & Society held March 18, 1852 the following votes were passed.

Whereas Rev. John W. Alvord has requested the Phillips Church and Society to unite with him in calling a Council to dissolve the pastoral relation existing between him and said Church and Society if deemed by them expedient,

Voted, that this Society desire to bear full testimony to the faithfulness with which Mr. Alvord has performed his ministerial labors among them, and to their continued attachment and esteem for him as a Christian and a Christian Minister.
