Alvord [Lee Ann Fret foe?] Major Genl McClellan directs me to testify to his high opinion of the services, redered to the soldiers of the Army of the Potomac, during the Peninsular Campagin, by the Rev J. W. Alvord Secretary of the American Tract Society, who fruitfully discharged the duties in-posed upon him by his calling & made himself a serious friend of the soldiers both in hospital & in camp.
