Dear Sir
Will you be so kind as to furnish me with a pass from Baltimore for Mr Copp or an assistant in my work here—I must leave, for a few weeks, to attend the May anniversaries in Boston and N York—& the condition of the troops calls for an earnest distribution of reading matter just now
Please direct to me Washington Room [22?] P.O Building—
Can you also furnish me with an order on the local Qu. Masters for temporary shelter for my Boxes at the various Central Depot, where I can break them up into parcels for the Regiments. By your previous kindness I now have every other facility but this— In so doing you will greatly aid our endeavors for the Christian welfare of the Army & very much oblige

Alvord, has for a long time been distributing religious and litterary reading matter in the Army of the Potomac, and now wishes to go elsewhere on the same business. I approve the [object?] and with the approval of the Sec. of War, he is entitled to pass and transportations for that purpose.
