in the basement of this building. But better store it there if possible near the Depot. That when we know where we are to go it could be sent with less trouble directly—You would sell, I suppose, many things, if you could get all they were worth—(Perhaps all, ex-cept enough for boarding purposes) If the lady hesitates about the bargain, & you think she better see me, then let me know & it may be I could make business on so as to meet her—She, I suppose, is to spend her winter in Boston. Act promptly in any case where decision is required—All will come right— as you say—if we do our duty.

You could take board then where it might seem best. This could be managed so that it would hardly be any where more than the cost of our present living, which— as you know, is quite expensive. At Eliz-

-abeth the other day, I found we could get in pleasant quarters, with some friends around us, Mr. Phelps, Mr Davenport for-merly of Stanford &c Out a little from the city, during the winter, we could get board cheaper in pro-portion—as every thing now crowds into the city. If I had seen him earlier perhaps I could have sold him our place—There will be a great crowd around Boston in the spring you may be sure.—Cousin

[Cayden?] A Alvord whom I met last evening—a man you know of enter-prize & wealth, is getting out a history of the Alvord race to be illustrated with portraits of all he can obtain. I promised you would send him one each of our family—Please do it—a good copy—in your next—Put in two or three of mine, as they are promised other parties.

Shall hear from you again I hope soon in any case, & also shall expect Julias letter now soon, It is quite cold here with snow, but the weather is pleasant. Am going to Governors & Bedlows Isd Hospitals this P.M.

Love to all Yours as ever J. W. Alvord
