friends—en route—in the same general direction & for the
same general purpose as myself—We can all
together now plan comprehensively & in unity, as the
Bank, Bureau, & Tract Soc. You see, are all here to-
-gether & all in common having "freedmen" on the brain.
Give me all particulars when you
write. How about staying in the House. Is it
sold yet? How is Julia getting along (& you)
with the volume of letters to be out for Christmas and
New Years? Does Jonny grow. Has he learned
his A.B.C.s & Sammy—I hope is comfortable—He
would like to see these great puffing, high pressure
steam boats on the Mississippi—Big fellows I tell you.
Can Sammy begin to write, I should like to
have him write me a letter.
At Charleston I may fix upon
the day when I shall see you not before as I can
now see—
You have every thing I hope & abound
As ever
Affectionately
