My Dears

You see I have hurried
on. At Goldsboro, finding that
I could do by delegation [Br. Roy|B.r
Roy]] some things at New bern &
Norfolk, I kept the train all
night, while he went that way

At Weldon breakfasted &
reached here last evening. To
day has been very stormy, & I
have not been out only to see
some friends—streets of this side-
hill city very slippery. What we
call at home an "ice storm".
It is snow I presume with you.

In the morning I go on (D.V) to
[Washington, D.C.|Washington]]—& after 2 days there
hasten to New York. This will give
me New Years with you—Shall I
