My dear Walter,

I yesterday recieved from Miss Susan Bowdoin
$1000. in Bank notes, & $400. in a check drawn by Mr Saunders
in favor of Miss Eliza Prentis, to remit to Mr Scott in Alex'a
for the purpose of purchasing Bank shares in his Bank.
This money Mr. Scott ^of this town^ is so kind as to promise to carry up
to Richmond, & deposit it in the Bank -- or rather deliver
it to the Cashier to whom I shall enclose it. I shall then
draw a check for it payable to Mr. Scott ^of Alexandria^ on his order. If
you are still in want of money I have no doubt Mr Scott
would send you my check, upon your promise to transmit
him your note payable to ^him at the Farmer's^ the Bank of Alexandria. You had
therefore better write to him immediately upon the subject, as I
shall forward the check to him the moment I know the money
is deposited. -- I had so many things to think of yesterday,
that it did not occur to me, that I might by this means
procure you a further accomodation.

We are all tolerably well, & unite in best love to you
and our dear Children, your Brother & his daughters &
our good friends the Amblers. -- God bless you!

Yours ever most affectionately

P. G. Tucker

Since writing the above we have heard of the death of the
greatest man Virginia had left to boast of; Mr Jefferson.
Will not the legislature erect a monument to his memory?
Surely they ought. --It were pitiful Ingratitude,
and Meanness of Spirit to neglect it.
