West of the square temple and adjoining
the E & W avenue on its south side is a
high well preserved building which presents
a problem as to its purpose - It has
the form of a great exedra nearly 30 metres
broad, two wings, in the form of curtain walls
project in parallel lines from the structure
at the back which consists of a lofty, broad
exedra, semicircular in form and semidomed -
with niches on either side of it. The lines
of the rear wall then break out at an obtuse
angle with tall arched openings on either
side and then turn again to form right
angles with the projecting wings. The wings
are provided on the interior with 2 stories of
2 niches each and every available space in
the rear wall is occupied by statue niches.

The entire space enclosed by the wings
is filled with native mud houses and the people
have so filled the rooms in the structure with
dividing walls of mud and their rubbish
that it is impossible to determine their
