Broke camp 10:15 passing through ^10:30^ Tell ꜥAdeh - modern V then
N up sloping hill to 10:40 Burdj is-Sab', ruins of a tower walls
standing in part, and a few other traces of building in foundations
and cut stones. Left 11:32 in 5 min over the low hill and in wadi going
down, skirting the W. side of Shekh Berekat for 45 mins then crossing
the E. side of a flat cultivated valley ascending hill to E. by N. arriving
Zerzîtā 12:52 on a hill surrounded on N. W. and E. sides by wadis or narrow
rocky valley - steep. A ruined town of considerable size and containing
ruins of ? churches, a tower and two or three private houses - Inhabited by
2 or 3 families. Left 4:40 going down a very narrow pass with
large masses of rock cliffs on each side - going N.E. way very rough
arriving at Ḳaṭurā 5:40 whree the wadi meets a flat valley -
cultivated. Ḳaṭurā is a ruined town class B. 5 or 10 mins up wadi
before reaching there on the N.E. side are several figures cut in
the perpendicular cliff. Also inscriptions. From Ḳ down the valley
to Ḳalʿat Simʿān is a ride of 20 mins.
