The round towers are entered through narrow doorways
recessed in a sort of vestibule, in one case this vestibule
was found to be arched. The interior has often a
base moulding and a moulded corbel cornice which
carried the slabs of the flat roof. In the middle of
the chamber stands a pier or a column; the roof was
often composed of only 4 slabs resting upon the column.
No inscribed lintels are found in situ; but a number
of stones of lintel form with Nabataean and Greek insc's.
These may have been used as [new] lintels, or above the
arched [ ] entrance. The round towers were low and
flat roofed. A much ruined tomb with a tunnel vault
was found and a number of sarcophagi with carved
ornament upon the sides.
