The great mass of buildings in this town however
are of the type seen in Būsân and have, as there,
are found fragments of the walls and bits of details
of a classic building. There are numerous fragments
of Nabataean capitals and grape-vine ornament

The streets are easily traced for long distances
and are comparativly straight, often forming
the boundaries of ^ rectangular ^ blocks of houses. The
streets have side walls on one or on both sides. The
town was completely walled partly by the rear walls
of houses, partly by walls constructed for the enclosure.

There is a great similarity of plan among the
houses though there are interesting differences in
small details such as the arrangement of exterior and
interior stairs, the placing of windows, cupboards etc.

The church was probably destroyed when the
mosque was built; for there are foundation walls of a
large oriented building on the same open square
as the mosque, and the mosque itself contains
a number of good pier caps built into its walls.
