V
Burd is a smaller ruin than most of the preceding;
but several of its buildings are well preserved
and two or three of them are inhabited at the
seasons of sowing and reaping. There seems
to have been a Nabataean shrine on this spot,
as several plain Nabataean capitals were
seen in the ruins of a medieval mosque.

In the Christian period there were two or
three large houses here, villas perhaps,
surrounded by stables, many of which are
still well preserved in the Southern part of the
town. The ruin not unlike that of Djemarrîn
about the same distance N. of Bosra; but it is
not of so high a class of architecture. The place
has probably been inhabited from time to time
for many cultures. Christian originally, it
shows signs of slight renovations in early
Mohammedan, medieval and modern times.

A good Greek stele was fround here in use as
a roofing slab in an ancient stable of 4 arches.
