The boulders and pebbles are largely made up of Potsdam Sandstone & Lower Magnesian Limestone.

Walked to the foot of the Little Sturgeon falls; examined them along the South bank of the river
Missed the way home
Laid under a log all night in the rain, near a creek
Matches wet & good for nothing hence had no fire
Comfortless night!

Spent the day searching for home! Lost in the woods -! 4 of us
Bottom of small lakes white with a soft slushy matter that I take to be nothing pollen of the pine
Found two small lakes not on Government Plats: one oval one triangular

Below the inlet from this lake on the northern west side of Hamilton Creek, and above the Long Hamilton Lake is a fine Sulphur Spring! Which may at some future time become famous.

Rambled northward to a creek which we followed down to Hamilton Lake, from whence we knew our way home! Great relief —
Got to Camp at 3 p m hungry & weary!
The Section lines and corners are so grown over as not to be recognized except by experts, of which we had none. [line drawn]
