Dec 1st I thought that I should finish this when I commenced it but I failed to do it as I had other things which demanded my attention.

I write partly to ask you if you knew to tell me about fathers property in Mackinaw if he has got any how much it is worth and how it concerns other folks understood right half of his mothers property belonged to him, please to tell how it stands if there is any chance of any [illegible] getting it whether it is timber land or not whether it has more than one building on it. if you answer these questions you will Oblige me greatly.

it is now more than one year since my poor Dear fathers death but it dose not seem but only yesterday when I sat by his couch in an agony of tears and saw him him breat his last breath when I saw that all hope was passed I felt as though as though I did not care to live but I remembered one on high who ever was willing to hear prayers and promises to be fatherless he has sustained my this far and hope to be sustained by him through this stormy life. I felt very much comforted by your letter you wrote to me.
