On the morrow to St. Anthony.
When the river foams & fizzles
Beauty to pure use grain over
Nary can disturbed our noddles
In our captive thoughts of breakfast
In our breakfast almost captive
Such the zest with which 'twas eaten.
Cloudless was the August sunshine
When through waving screen of foliage
The light form of Minnehaha
Broke on our enchanted vision
Lovely, dancing Minihaha.
Wayward arch in her caprices
One must laugh that looketh on her!
Not a white Alruna maiden
Shaming wrong with her pure presence
Human girl is Mineha-ha
Flinging tears from her dark lashes
Wearing with delight her jewels
Brimming o'er with life & music
Leave the Requiem to Niagara
"Spirit waltz" to far Lecoah.
Sing thine own song. Laughing water.
All this land was sung in scripture
Land of streams and water coursed
Land of Land and waving harvests
