Hon & Dr Sir:

Yours of the Ulto came duly to hand - disregards [illegible] I will do all I can for him But there are so many applicants continually on hand its impossible to satisfy one half of them. But I will certainly endeavor to remember him when a vacancy occurs. But you are undoubtedly well aware that the Senators & Representatives urge their favorites be appointed &c &c So often I cannot do as I would like.

As regards your House here - The scamp that was in it when you was here did not pay for two months rent & left & has not paid yet But I am in hopes of collecting it in a few days & will settle the Taxes. Poor old [illegible] wife has been sick nearly all winter & of course he could not have anything. I let him use the old shed last fall while he was building to put his
