Eliza Baird left on the Michigan; she wishes me to give her
love & kind regards to yourself. Louise & the Doctor I promised me to
write to you She left the parasol for you. Mrs [illegible] &
family also left - Dr. Blodget & family left sometime since -
I received a day or two since a very kind letter from Mrs. Abbott
in reply to mine - she said she had written to you the same day.
I have not heard from Dr. Armstrong - I would have written
to him but have not his address - The little girls were
much pleased with their [illegible], they fit very well - Yesterday the "Baker family," (small fry) had a circus in their play room,
Matty made the dresses; Clarke was the clown, & was dressed
in full costume - and cat the greatest figure, as a small
scale, that I have seen - They are all well and the girls do not
appear to be lonely here, but quite contented neither of them
has expressed a wish to stay at home. Matty made a
sponge cake last week, & yesterday Petty made cookies Petty
presides at the table & both occasionally have their coffee
at breakfast.
I enclose herewith Five Dollar bill which will I suppose
answer your purpose for the present.
I am informed that our christian & charitable friend the parson
& Lady leave us on wednesday next, His sermon of last
week has met with but one opinion (except I suppose on
part of the [illegible]) & that is of disapprobation and disgust. I suspect
it domed him as well as his [illegible], but little good & I doubt
not but he leaves here but little regretted He has acted to[ward]
