[* Green Bay, Aug 12th 1860.*]
[to]ward us & our family with coldness & neglect, & I believe he feels toward the congregation & the citizen generally, with a few exceptions,
anything but that degree of friendship and filial regard which
should characterise the christian minister, or the Pastor toward
his flock - Peace be with him & her too & may their sojourn
be elsewhere than at Green Bay - It could not be expected
that he should feel over friendly to me after having heard
my very candid opinion of the lady before he took her "for better
for worse" if he has not already discovered that somethings
told him were true - he may live long enough to realize them.
I received & have put away the little boquet sent by my
dear little Jessey - for which I thank her much & send in this
letter three kisses, which she must be sure to catch -
Last evening a letter came from Chicago to Margaret Metty
enclosing a ticket on profession for the old woman staying at
[illegible], which will relieve them of that burthen.

church this forenoon, Mr. G officiated, but I did not learn

much about it.

Pettey has written you, she tells me, & will give her letter
to be enclosed with this - All join in much love to you.
John, Louise & Tessey - and with kind regards to all our
good friends I am, as ever, Yours affectionately H.S. Baird

Mattie's P.S. Grandma I ment to write to you but I had not any time.
From Mattie
