My dear Mrs Baird

Very often have I thought of you, of late, because I wrote you some four weeks since and I have been hoping for a reply - But I see that you are treating me as I deserve, for I have not forgotten that a nice good letter of yours, remained many weeks unanswered! Well, my dear friend I then suffered myself more than I think that you could have done. I could not look for a letter from you during all that while, as you, with your heart full of happiness didn't, I dare say, often think of me! Oh I wish I could see you - You would know me at once, for my face now corresponds with the central thoughts of my heart, once there were flitting sunbeams.

We have had a delightful summer in the outter world and also in our own family - My sister, Mrs Rhodes, with her husband & children made us a long visit - My brother Leonard's wife is still here. I wish we could see Rawson & his wife here - I think & hope that she is one to love
