New York 7th April 1861
H.S. Baird Esqr

Green Bay Wis

Dear Sir

Yours of 28th Ulto was received on the 3rd Inst. & contents duly noted. I was pleased to learn that you had done so much better in your collections than you had anticipated & I will honor your draft for $275. As advised when presented. I rely however upon your exerting yourself to refund this amount as soon as possible. I am really pleased to learn that you are to visit our city at an early day and it will afford much pleasure to all our circle to welcome you. If we were not so crowded at home I would insist upon your taking quarters with us during your stay, we will however be pleased to see as much of you as possible. With kind regards to Mrs. Baird, I am yours very truly.
