My dear Sir:-
I intended sooner to
have thanked you for your photograph,
and to have shown my appreciation of it
by sending my own in return. I now
enclose one for your acceptance.
I thank you also for your note
with regard to the publication of
the Illinois survey Report by Mr.
Worthen. I had had the good word
before from Worthen himself, and
had prepared a paragraph for the
Journal. It will be a rich contribution
to Paleontology.
I should like to send a collection
of minerals for the Fair. But my
hours of work per day are now so
few, from the Condition of my health,
- but 3 or 4 at the most - that I
