My dear Sir

I thank you for the interesting
map showing the effect of Lake Michigan on the climate
of Wisconsin. I should also be glad to receive a copy of
any remark, you may publish with it.

I should be pleased to contribute specimens for the
fair the good people of your place are about to start for
the benefit of the sick and wounded Soldiers, but I can-
not, for the reason that I have all my own collections to
the Smithsonian Institution some time back. Any contri-
-butions from the Smithsonian Institution, must be applied
for directly to Prof. Henry.

It has occurred to me that possible I could obtain
through you in some way, a copy of Halls Wisconsin
Report. I have never yet seen it, though I hear of the
Wisconsin Geological Report, and see it quoted. If
you can procure me a copy, and will forward it by
mail to me at this place, I will be greatly obliged
to you, and will send you stamps immediately to
cover the postage.
