I A Lapham Esq

Dear Sir

Your favor of April 10
come all right, but being absent [aid?] did not get
it until I returned home. I spent most of last
month in the mines with Prof Johnston of [?],
a part of the time prof J I Hodge was with us, making
arrangements for the contemplated mine works at [Mixed
Donut?]. This accounts for not answering your letter
sooner. I have not many mineral specimens in hand, but
will try to get some next week when I return to the
mines. My New York friend keep my very poor in
Specimens of minerals & fossils. I will however remember
& keep for you the next good fossil I get from the
place as you requested some time ago

Very truly yours

John Nurrish
