Prof. I. A. Lapham.

My dear sir -

I am greatly obliged to you
for the Copy of the Wisconsin Geological Report,
and other documents you were so kind as to
send. Also for your photograph.

I expect to start for Chicago tomorrow
evening, to remain there for several months.
The legislature has made an appropriation
to publish Worthen's report, and I have in
it, in connection with him, a considerable amount
of paleontology, which I wish to revise. I am
also to spend some time at Chicago looking
after the engraving. My friend Dr. Stimpson has
charge of the Museum of the Academy of Sciences
there, and they offer me rooms and other facili
-ties there where I can be near the engraver.
I hope to see you at Chicago during my stay
