happy to receive such as
you may have to spare
Any eastern plant
you want, please let
me know, and I will
try to get it for you.
I have quite a list of
correspondents, with
whom I exchange. I
give all my time to
botany, being something
of an invalid, and
my aim is to build
up a great collection,
which will certainly
go to some society
or college. I notice
on that slip I first
sent my friend Mr.
[right side]
[Natin?] you have pencil-
ed "same!", against [Chu
lanthus leumgiuosa?]
& C. vestita. I enclose
a specimen of the
C. vestita, as we call
it about here, and it
seems to me to be
quite distinct from
C. [lau?]. What say you?
The [aspictium fragrans?]
you sent me is a
very young [?], fruit
just forming. Would
it be asking too much
to solicit another? I
am particularly anx
ious to show the "great
rusty-brown indusia"
