[Report] [1872]

Meteorological Memorandum —

In or about the year 1793 a very violent hurricain [hurricane] passed over Pennsylvania leaving a "wind fall" extending through Elk, and several adjoining counties. In October 1864 I examined the ground near Hemlock Station on the Philadelphia and Erie Railway in that county; found remains of logs, hillocks formed by turned up roots, and by ^ the growth of sof hardwood that had taken the place of the [coniferae?] along the course of the storm, its course could be traced across the mountain, of this broken country
