Milwaukee January 6 1875

Dr Sir

I have this morning your favor of
the 5th from Madison; also the second part of Mr.
Kings Report.

I regret the misunderstanding by
which we failed to meet at Madison; had my last
letter reached you in time it would have saved much
trouble and show why Mr. Kings Report was not sent
to the Governor with the others. I had no object in
going to Madison except to deliver the Report to the
Governor, which could as well be done by the Express
Company. I suppose the law is complied with
Coen if the documents are not all complete; addition
can be made at anytime. The chemical work is
behind for the reason that money was needed for the
Brooks Survey. If the appropriation was not so nearly
Exhausted I would now add to the force in that department.
All needed work will be done before the end of the survey
and can be incorporated with the reports before the end of the survey
and can be incorporated with the reports before they read the prints.

I am preparing the General Geological map
of the whole state to accompany my report, and now lack
only your map of the north end of the Green Bay peninsula.
Perhaps you can mark the boundaries of the Beds
on the inclosed [part?] for me.

Yours very truly

Prof T. C. Chamberlin
