syn. C. curta, good. C. Richardi Michx. c.

Spikes 5 to 7, about 12 to 20 flowered,
the 2 or 3 upper approximated, the rest
all distinct and the lowermost remote, ovate;
perigynia ovate, about the length of the pointed
scale. Culm one to two feet high; flowers
in May. Swamps.
