Diandrous cyperus
styles 2 cleft;
Stamens 2; [insert up arrow] spikes lance = oblong
on two to five unequal [illegible]; scales
oblong, obtuse, [inert up arrow - chestnut] brown on the margins,
a [illegible] [insert up arrow - flattened], dull, ablong = obovate,
minutely wrinkled across.
Low wet places, about
springs, the borders of marshes
rivers &c.
The variety castaneus [underlined], Torrey
only is found in Wisconsin.
Flowers in August & September.
Height 4 to 10 inches
