Another bed of similar ore exists at Black river falls in Jackson county, and also on Rib river, Marathon county. Others are supposed to exist north of Oconto river. These extensive deposits await the advance of capital and enterprise, for their full development.
Kaolin or Potter's Clay in considerable beds exists at Grand Rapids of the Wisconsin & may be brought into requisition for useful purposes, as soon as rail road facilities are extended to that place. The natural white wash reported as found on the St. Croix may be another locality of Kaolin.
Graphite has been found at places only known to the discoverers.
Pipe clay similar to that of the Coteau de Prairie has been found in Benson County upon land belonging to the Cornell University of N. York. It was first discovered by Mr. A. Randall while engaged in the Geological Survey under the direction of Dr. Owen. SW 1/4 27 T 35 R10W.
No limestone has yet been found associated with these rocks in Wisconsin.
