Relative density of population. The
counties lying on the shore of Lake Michigan
south of Kewaunee, extending out a̶s̶
so as to include Winnebago, Found du
Lac, Dodge, Dane & Rock, are the
most densely populated having
an average of 40 or more to each
square mile or section of land.
The south=western counties as far as
Lacrosse have a population of 20
to 30 per square mile. the portion
of the state least populated is the
about one third of the area, along
the northern boundary, including
the counties on Lake Superior and also
Burnett, Dallas, Chippewa Marathon &
Oconto.
