Frond bipinnate, or tripinnate; rachis slender, flexuous; pinnoe long, flexuous, distant, opposite perpendicular to the rachis; pinnules oblong, subtrilobate, opposite or alternate, narrow at the base, distant, perpendicular-the long, distant, and flexuous pinnoe with the small trilobate pinnules distinguish this species.

Sphenopteris Williamsonis Ad. Burng. Lindl. & Hut.; S. digitata, Philips.

Pinnule narrowly wedge shaped, truncated, often two lobed, and placed in a somewhat irregular manner; they often appear two parted [at] to their base, each division being lobed almost in a fan shaped manner.-A variety has shorter & more numerously lobed pinnules, sometimes confluent.
