Bark River (Onakick or Peal Bark" river of the Indians) rises in Washington county and passing through the north west corner of Milwaukee county enters Rock River at Fort Atkinson in Jefferson county six miles above Lake Koshkonong. It passes through two beautiful lakes in Milwaukee county, below which its water is very clear-they are the Nagowicka and Nemahbin lakes. It abounds in fish. Above the lakes it runs on very elevated ground, being over three hundred feet above Lake Michigan; below, it passes through a region of extensive marshes, affording cranberries.-
