The surface of Rock river in Sec 26 T8 R16 has an elevation of [] feet above Lake Michigan, and at Jefferson near the "Forks" it has an elevation of [] feet as ascertained in surveying the Milwaukee and Rock River Canal, showing a descent between these two points of [] feet. Of this descent according to Capt. Cram's Report [feet?] is in the rocks Rapids and [] feet on Johnsons Rapids. So much fall with the quantity of water in Rock river affords much water power, which is at present partially improved.
